Goodness knows preparing to host a wedding is a lot of work, but planning to attend one is, too. Here are answers to some of the questions you may have. Let us know if there’s anything we’re missing!
General
How do I RSVP?
Your invite will have instructions on how to RSVP. You can RSVP by mail or on this website.
What is the deadline to RSVP?
Your invite will include the deadline.
Are kids welcome?
Yes, kids are allowed, but please do make sure you include them when you RSVP so we can have food and seating ready. If you’re traveling with Kids, check out our page of kid friendly activities in Chicago..
Can I bring a plus one?
Yes, if you have a plus one on your invite. Weddings are expensive, especially in the city. If you’re not sure if you have a plus one, please reach out to us to confirm!
Do you have a wedding registry?
We are working on setting one up and will update our website once it’s ready.
Can I bring a gift to the wedding?
Gifts are not required, you joining us and having a good time is most important! But, if you do bring a gift, we will have a table marked for dropping your gift off.
Event
What is the dress code?
Semi-formal! Don’t worry, this isn’t black tie, but it is also a special day for us. We want you to be comfortable, but look your best too.
What are the wedding theme colors?
Jewel tones, in particular forest green.
Where is the venue?
The ceremony and reception is at the historic Cafe Brauer located at 2021 N Stockton Dr, Chicago, IL 60614 right in the heart of Lincoln Park.
Will the wedding be indoor or outdoor?
Weather permitting, the ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors in a covered location. The dinner and reception will be indoor in the Great Hall of Cafe Brauer.
Is the venue handicap accessible?
Even though Cafe Brauer is a historic building, it is equipped with an elevator and handicap accessible bathrooms. Please contact us if you need an accommodation or have any questions!
Can I take pictures at the wedding?
Yes and no. We ask that no photos or videos are taken during the wedding ceremony itself. We really want everyone to be present. We will have a professional crew capturing the ceremony.
After the ceremony, please take as many photos and videos as you’d like.
When should I arrive?
Check the event page for the exact schedule. We recommend arriving 15-20 minutes early so you can get seated and to allow for any delays. See the FAQ below for advice on transportation.
What’s the food and drink situation?
Dinner will be served buffet style. We will do our best to accommodate any allergies or dietary restrictions. Please make sure your RSVP information is accurate so we can contact you if we have any questions! Drinks will be served by an open bar.
Is there an open bar?
There will be an open bar at the reception. Please don’t forget to tip your bartenders!

Transportation
Is there parking nearby?
Yes, there is parking nearby, but we recommend taking public transit to save both money and time. If you need parking, there are a few spots nearby:
- 308 W. Dickens St.
- N. Cannon Drive
- 1730 N. Stockton Drive
- There is also street parking in the area which is paid per hour either at a nearby meter or on the ParkChicago app. Please check signs before parking to avoid a ticket.
How can I find the best public transit route?
You can use this link to plan a route. Just enter your AirBNB or hotel address to see what the recommended route is. The fare is $2.50 per person and can be paid by any tap-to-pay credit card. We recommend the Transit app for the best routes and live times.
